My Goal and Philosophy of Outstanding Teaching

I believe there are many tangible skills that are crucial for one to be an outstanding elementary educator. Quality instructional experiences with a diverse population are critical, as they ensure that a teacher has knowledge and understanding of differentiation strategies, management practices, and comprehension of the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum. These real-world positions teach educators to develop and implement quality instruction and provide them opportunities to successfully improve upon student achievement.
Outstanding teachers surround themselves with current educational theory and up-to-date research within the field.  They use data-informed practices and research driven techniques to drive their instructional pedagogy on a daily basis, and provide accountability for achievement outcomes within the classroom.
To me, the “outstanding educator” is a guide, a listener and an observer. It is someone who sees the potential in young people and is able to motivate them towards bringing their own potential to life. An outstanding teacher excites students to think, criticize, and make sense of the world around them by encouraging them to constantly dialogue and embrace the idea that learning is an ever fluid and changing journey.
Outstanding teachers share their life passions with students, and ignite a fire in students to make their own passions and thinking public as well. Within the classroom, the outstanding educator guides every student to actively participate in quality discussions about his or her own thoughts, opinions, questions, and talents. Ultimately, a teacher helps a student view his or her own participation within the classroom as a way for he or she to make his or her own positive mark on the world. It is the combination of these tangible skills and intangible attributes that make up my philosophy of education and drive me to be the most outstanding teacher I can be.
