Field Trip to the BMOS!

Student Scientists at work and play!

Students in grade 1 went on a very informative and fun trip to the Boston Museum of Science today. We have been studying Earth and Space Science, Physical Science, Life Science and Engineering and today we put all of our learning to the test.

Students were engineers, designing and redesigning models in the MOS Design Challenge Labratory

We discovered new ways to understand light and sound standards in the "Take a Closer Look" and "Light House" exhibits.

We saw the phases of the moon and the changes of the seasonal constellations at the planetarium.

It was such a great experience in learning and fun!

Please continue conversations at home by asking your leaner...
Exhibit: Cabot Lab
Essential questions to ask about students' lab experience.
How do scientists make observations?
How do scientists think about what might happen?
How do scientists adjust their questions based on their observations?
How do scientists share their findings with others?

Exhibit: Design Challenge
Essential questions to ask about scientists challenge experience.

What problem are we trying to solve?
What are the materials we have to use? Are there other limitations?
How can I improve my design to increase the quality or efficiency?
Are there multiple ways to solve the problem?

Don't forget, tomorrow is DERBY DAY! Dress to the 9s!
Love,
Mrs. L
